WARMING CHOCOLATE PORRIDGE
This warming breakfast feels like a treat, but it is Sugar Free, it will keep your energy up until lunch and prevent any cravings. Flaxseed is a rich source of phytoestrogens and fibre to help keeping your hormones balanced. Cinnamon is great to keep your blood sugar levels under control.
1 medium banana, ½ chopped and ½ sliced
1 tbsp milled flaxseed
1tbsp 100% raw cacao powder
40g porridge oats
225ml water (or milk substitute unsweetened variety: soy, coconut, almond etc.)
20g of pecans or mixed nuts and/or seeds
1/2tsp cinnamon powder
1. Put porridge oats into a saucepan and add water or milk. Stir well and set over a low-medium heat for about 8-10minutes, stirring regularly until thickened and bubbling.
2. Once porridge is ready, mix in milled flaxseed, cacao, seeds, nuts and chopped banana.
Serve immediately, top with sliced banana, more chopped nuts and sprinkle of cinnamon.
You could use any topping you want such as cacao nibs, shredded coconut, goji berries or fresh berries.
